LET’S GO CRABBING!

LET’S GO CRABBING!

Saturday, March 28, 2026 (10:00 AM - 11:00 AM) (EDT)

Description

Bring the whole family for a hands-on crabbing adventure at Morris Landing! This one-of-a-kind guided experience is designed for families to explore, learn, and crab together—no prior experience needed. Working alongside a local biologist, families will catch and observe blue crabs using nets, traps, and other hands-on techniques, explore marsh crabs along the creek banks, and practice safe, responsible catch-and-release methods. Children will engage in real field science as they compare male and female crabs, examine shells and claws, and investigate how molting, behavior, and habitat help crabs thrive in the dynamic salt marsh ecosystem. Kids will have the opportunity to develop curiosity, practice teamwork, and connect with nature, all while learning the skills and habits of young scientists in a fun, hands-on environment. Along the way, participants will discover why salt marshes are critical habitats for blue crabs—providing food, shelter, and nursery areas for young crabs—and learn how crabs fit into the marsh food web. Families will leave with a deeper understanding of how protecting these ecosystems supports healthy crab populations and thriving coastal habitats. Expect muddy shoes, curious kids, and plenty of crab excitement! This interactive, educational adventure is perfect for families with children of all ages who want to experience coastal crabbing, outdoor science, and quality time together. Science, adventure, and saltwater fun for all ages—perfect for curious kids, adventurous adults, and the whole family.
